Day 3

Arrival: 07:00

Departure: 19:00
Incheon is a historically and economically significant city for Koreans. During the Korean War, it was the site of the Incheon Landing by American forces. Today, Incheon is a metropolitan city of about 2.8 million people, politically independent from Seoul. It also serves as a major transportation hub by air and sea, with a large harbor and one of the world’s best international airports. Several beautiful islands, such as Yeongjong Island and Ganghwa Island, also lie within the city limits.
The city’s profile continues to rise as various national projects are developed in Incheon. The New Songdo City project, the most expensive real estate development in Korean history, is planned for completion in 2015. One of the world’s tallest twin-tower complexes, the 151 Incheon Tower, is under early construction, and Korea’s current tallest building, the Northeast Asia Trade Tower, has already been completed. Incheon is planning additional self-contained mini-cities for shopping, housing, and education. Alongside these real estate projects, Incheon will welcome large numbers of visitors for the 2014 Incheon Asian Games. Despite these developments, the Songdo area of Incheon is still unfinished and largely uninhabited, and is not yet a strong destination for tourists. Travelers are more likely to enjoy the bustling eastern side of Incheon, which blends seamlessly into the vast urban area of Seoul.
